  • The attached file mentions a Pope who was deemed a heretic. Much like how you guys deem the last few Popes "heretics". There may have been some controversial activity in those days by Popes, but nothing led Catholics to think that they should leave the Church by schism. What are your thoughts?

  • This article from the Catholic Encyclopedia online sheds a bit more light.

    Pope John XXII

What I gather from this one article is that he never actually taught anything heretical, nor did he try to change church teachings.

Quibbling over when someone will behold the Beatific Vision after death is not as serious as inventing a new "Mass" or telling someone they do not have to even hold the Catholic faith to be saved, (as I recall B16 saying, in essence, during one of his visits to a ѕуηαgσgυє).

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

    Marsha

That pales in comparison to some of the heresies of John XXIII and his predecessors.

  • It is amazing what the last five popes have been able to get away with - at least for now.

  • I'm still trying to figure out where in the theological books they explain the meaning of "to deem".
