Sometimes it's prayer that brings in the faithful, but a Kirkland Catholic church is counting on TV ads. Holy Family Catholic Church has funded a new television advertising campaign to reignite the faith with lapsed Catholics.

This site is from Feb. but today on the news I saw that Boston was starting a campaign titled: Catholics Come Home

I suppose they need more money to pay for all their law suits.

Interesting that the commercials try to use traditional images of Catholicism.

Of course it is sponsored by the congregation, not the clergy, who prefer the aesthetics of the 60s and 70s.

I wonder what the people who come back will find. Not much changed I think.

Looking at their website and the 10 reasons why Catholics should come "home", although I breezed through them and it is possible I missed it, but I don't recall them mentioning, there is no salvation outside the Church. Maybe its because they don't believe it.

Those last few sentences well.... I just don't know

The whole effort of trying to advertise (especially during sports games) and market the Faith reeks of Amerikan Christianity. Its interesting how they said on the news clip that one can come back any time they want. You just have to love Neo-Catholic trampoline faith, grace, and salvation. You can hop on whenever you feel like it, jump for a little bit and then hop off when you don't feel like it anymore, then jump back on when you feel like its your time again. :jumping2:

I like how they're trying to paint it as not being a problem. It is also a bit difficult trying to compare sex abuse in the (NO) Church with other so called "Churches."

Re the NO advertising which reeks of American Catholicism -- has it occurred, to more than just a couple of people, that the substance of the EWTN acronym is a joke, a contradiction in terms?

I would advise lapsed Catholics to stay at home ..... and this ad will help them to stay there. Unless of course they seek a sleepy place to experience a lightness of head and become part of a cultural desert. They can do this in front of the TV without those clerical hands deep inside their pockets. As for those subliminal trad touches in the style of Ratzinger, methinks those who would remember such things have all but died out by now.
