I've been attending an SSPX chapel for about 7 years and I've never noticed - until recently - a priest reading the Epistle or Gospel with anything but a word for word reading of the 1962 missal. But recently I've noticed that one of the priests seems to replace the words that end with 'eth' or 'th' to the more modern versions - for example 'doth' becomes 'does' and 'sitteth' would be 'sits'. It bothers me. Should it?

Ask him if he is embarrassed by scripture.

Strictly speaking, the reading of the Epistle and the Gospel in the local language is not part of the Mass, rather it is part of the sermon. So, it's not as if the priest is violating any liturgical laws.

Could it be possible he is not using the Douay-Rheims translation, but rather the so-called Confraternity translation of the mid-twentieth century?

It doth vex me in a profound manner! How dareth he dismiss the Jєωel without price that becometh for us our ye olde english from hence ago? I doth protest in like manner.

Be ye not vexed - most especially not profoundly. The soul that falleth into vexation but stumbles and thus showeth the truth of the gospel re: our fallen state. But he that chooseth to remain vexed, sinneth, sometimes gravely.
