Here you can find all you ever wanted to know (and more) about why DD is, in some circles, called One-hand Dan.

I'm not sifting through that whole blog. Is there a particular post you are referencing?

DigitalLogos, in answer to your question (reply #166) about which particular post in Pistrina Liturgica deals with the questionable validity of Dolan’s orders, there are several Pistrina articles dealing with that.  The article dates are as follows: May 11, 2013; May 18, 2013; May 25, 2013; June 1, 2013; June 8, 2013; June 15, 2013; June 22, 2013; and June 29, 2013.  To start off with the first article (of May 11, 2013), click here.  These articles all deal with the dubiety of Dolan’s one-handed orders.  And for a complete explanation of such, click here.  Written in question-and-answer form, it goes into complete detail about the dubiety of one-handed orders (as well as dismantling Anthony Cekada’s defense of one-handed orders).

In my last post (reply #168), please excuse the type coming out so large.  I'm not sure why it did so.  My apologies!

During the 1976 ordination to the priesthood by Archbishop Lefebvre, a class which included both Daniel Dolan and Richard Williamson, Archbishop Lefebvre evidently only laid his right hand on the heads of the ordinands, contrary to the rubric of the Pontificale Romanum, which indicates that the bishop lay both his hands on the ordinand's head, perhaps due to his having the day before ordained deacons (where the rite calls for one hand).  In any case, the argument was made that this is invalid.  So many of the SSPV consider Fr. Dolan not to be a valid priest and therefore not a valid bishop either.  I know that the SSPV conditionally confirms people who had been confirmed by Bishop Williamson.

Now, the Eastern Rite has always performed ordination to the priesthood with one hand, the Roman Rite also did for a couple centuries, but then switched to two hands, and I believe Father Cekada found some ruling on the matter from a Vatican office which indicates that this would in fact be valid.

So, in essence, they're disregarding intent entirely because the form was only slightly off? That's stupid.
