BOD is the teaching of all the theologians. It is the common teaching. St. Alphonsus gives it the "theological note" of de fide.
The consent of Theologians produces certainty that a doctrine is Catholic truth only when on the one hand the doctrine is proposed as absolutely certain, and on the other and the consent is universal and constant (Consensus universalis et constans non solurn opinionis sed firmae et ratae sententiae). If all agree that a particular doctrine is a Catholic dogma and that to deny it is heresy, then that doctrine is certainly a dogma.
Sorry to disappoint you but St. Alphonsus does not have the authority to declare anything is de fide. And if you want to discuss a "Pope of Desire", probably best to start a new thread please.
Sheeben points out to you that the Fathers are fallible, they cannot always be relied upon to infallibly declare that which is de fide
except and unless they do so under exacting requirements - none of which have been applied to their teachings regarding a BOD. Read the quote you posted to see this is the way it is.
You need to always remember that in regards to Baptism, the Sacrament is the only thing theologically certain because it alone enjoys the common and constant consent of the fathers, and has been solemnly defined by popes and councils.
Something else - what should it matter to BODers as to whether or not others adhere to the dogma. I mean, according to the dogma, no sacrament means no salvation, so those of us who argue in favor of the dogma are concerned that without the sacrament, souls go to hell - - - - - but when it comes to BODers, according to many of the numerous different theories of BOD, the person goes to heaven without the Sacrament any way - so what point is it that you are arguing? What happens to the dead person if you are wrong vs what if we are wrong?
I understand you do not answer direct questions, but try.
What you have NEVER done is provided even one theologian who noticed and commented on the "grave error" you have discovered. That's because it's not an error, it is true and the teaching of the Church.
