Whenever I hear this, I can't help but think of the Mormons et al., who say the same thing…

  • If this isn't the great Apostasy, I hope I'm long gone when it shows up.

  • Based upon a recent catholic prophecy book i've read, which summarizes what the Church Fathers taught about the End Times, we are living through a 'minor' precursor to the End Times.  In other words, the following events will happen during the End Times.  Our times mirror these events, just in a minor way:

         End Times                                    |          Our Times
    1.  Whole world is catholic                  |          Large part of the world has been catholic, but not all
    2.  Destruction of Roman Empire         |         Gradual decline (but not end of) the Roman Empire since 1500s
    3.  Great apostasy                              |         Minor apostasy of catholic nations (i.e. V2 errors)
    4.  Rise of anti-christ                          |         Rise of global, socialist government run by freemasons
    5.  Persecution under anti-christ          |         Persecution under socialist government
    6.  Defeat of anti-christ by St Michael   |         Defeat of socialism by Our Lady, the Great Monarch and Holy Pope.
    7.  Final triumph of church                  |         Rise of final Roman Empire.  Great Monarch and Holy Pope rule world.
    8.  Final period of peace for Church      |         Fatima period of peace
    9.  Conversion of the Jєωs                   |         Conversion of protestants, muslims, pagans
    10. 2nd coming of Christ/End of World  |         Whole world is catholic ....enter period of END TIMES ...(see #1 above)

  • Do all sedevacantists think we're living through "The Great Apostasy" right now?

What makes you think we are not? Abortions, One World Order & Religion, aberrosɛҳuąƖism is normal, the Catholic hierarchy are all heretics.......

    Big John's a Coming!

In the Old West, a frail old man was out of work, and was offered a job as a bartender in the local dive. He was very surprised at the offer, and asked why it was available? The owner told him that there was no catch, except, to give him a warning, that should he be told that Big John was coming, to run for his life.

He took the job and found it to be quite easy, and settled down to the day to day. One day someone burst into the bar and yelled Big John's a coming!!!!! The entire bar stampeded out of the bar and ran over the frail old man and knocked him out behind the bar. When he came to, no sooner had he cleared his head than the bar door exploded open, and a mountain of a bearded man burst in riding on a giant Buffalo using a live rattlesnake for a whip. The giant jumped off the Buffalo, and pounded his fist on the bar, shaking the whole building, and said, I want a drink! The frail old man still on the floor behind the bar, reached up and put a bottle of whiskey on the bar and the mountain of a man grabbed it and bit off the glass neck and drank the entire bottle in one pass. Then he hurriedly jumped on the Buffalo to leave, and the frail old man asked him, don't you want another drink? The giant answered, "ain't got time, Big John's a comin!" END

If this Conciliar church apostasy is not The Great Apostasy, I'd hate to see what the great apostasy is.

  • No.  The only thing all sedevacantists have in common is the acceptance of the fact that the Catholic Church currently does not have a reigning pope.

As for this sedevacantist, I believe we may be living during the Great Apostasy, but I don't know.  Remember that Pope St. Pius X believed that The Anti-Christ was probably alive during his day.  The Church will be restored.  Whether that will happen before the Last Judgment is not something I can say.

  • The apostasy of our day is great, in the sense that it is horrible and widespread.  But the "Great Apostasy", in my opinion, refers to a time in the future when, all countries being catholic, they all fall away during the time of anti-christ.  100% of the world apostasizing would be the only thing which would be worse than our times.

  • Trial, Tribulation & Triumph: Before, During, and After Antichrist
      -- by Desmond A. Birch

The writer is a conciliar catholic, so you have to stomach some quotes from V2, but the book is well researched and worth the read, as most of the quotes come from the Church Fathers and Doctors.

Another book I highly recommend is:
    Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement

  • Come on, man, quit being so literal.  For crap's sake, I think some of you people in this site like to argue just to argue.  Take a chill pill!  I said 100% of the catholic WORLD (meaning every single country, in a general sense) not every single catholic.

P.s. It is agreed to by all the church fathers that before the anti christ comes the whole world will be catholic.  That hasn't happened yet, so this current apostasy isn't part of the end times.  No way, no how.

But when the Son of man comes, shall he indeed find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:8 )

For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. ( Mat 24:24 )
I can't think of any prophecy that would better describe our times than these quotes describing the end times. How many Catholic bishops and priests remain in this world today, let alone faithful, practically none.

  • The whole world has never been catholic.  China, Japan, USA, Thailand, etc etc have never been catholic, officially.

At some point, the whole world, meaning every single nation, will be catholic and this hasn't happened yet.  After a peace, all countries (being ruled by 10 kings) will be tempted to fall from the Faith with 7 of the 10 kings following the anti christ.  He will rule the world and persecute the world through his global regime.  This is scriptural and from tradition since it agrees with the Church Fathers.

I wonder why you have singled out sedevacantists. I don't identify myself as a sedevacantist, so I suppose I don't qualify to answer your question. Nevertheless i believe we are in the great apostasy.
I guess Mormons have to have something right. You know a broken clock etc....

  • If any of you are interested in reading on these things, there is a whole study in catholicism called "eschatology" and it means, in greek, study of the end times.  The Church Fathers, who were the direct descendants of the Apostles, wrote volumes and volumes on this subject and the church has declared that (on any topic) if the Church Fathers agree, then it is part of Tradition, i.e. infallible.

I suggest you get a book (I mentioned one in this tread already) which summarizes all the teachings of the church which are considered Tradition and you'll have a great idea of the general outline of what is to come.  Then you can add all the various prophecies out there that may (or may not, depending on God's mercy) happen to 'fill in the gaps' from what we know from Apostolic times.

The point is that the end times should not be a mystery for catholics as Tradition has explained so much of this (in a general sense).  But, the subject matter is often forgotten, so that many do not know the knowledge that exists and has been handed down.

I am not a sede, but I believe these are the end times.
