For many years I had uncertainty about the Divine Mercy devotions, having
seen many traditional Catholics involved with it, and I had doubts about
the Divine Mercy devotions when I read about how it had been prohibited
under Pope Pius XII, who many consider was "angelic."
I read that Sr. Faustina's diary could not have been written by her since she
was illiterate, and then I heard a rather shallow woman tell me that she
preferred Sr. Faustina to Sr. Lucia of Fatima because she was so much better
looking. I asked her about the fact that Sr. Lucia obeyed Our Lady who told
her to learn to read and write, but Sr. Faustina never did learn. She had no
answer, and I then had more uncertainty, and more doubts.
Things were not looking so good for the Divine Mercy cult.
I was not appreciative of JPII's tampering with the Rosary to make it 20
decades, introducing 5 new ones that are quite foreign to the whole ebb
and flow of the beautiful 15-decade garland of Our Lady. I was encouraged
by my priest who held up a glow-in-the-dark Prison Ministry plastic rosary at
the pulpit and he said, "This is as close as I get to the Luminous Mysteries!"
Years went by, and I prayed for an answer.
Then one day, I was at a Rosary Rally not long ago and I was seated next to
a Filipino lady, who got extra loud at the Fatima Decade Prayer. She said,
"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls
to heaven especially those most in need of The Divine Mercy."
The incursion of this Divine Mercy cult into my Rosary meditations was the
last straw! ENOUGH with this!
All my uncertainty and doubts suddenly vanished. I think it was a miracle!
