Differences between SSPV Seminary and +Sanborn Seminary
« on: February 07, 2024, 03:42:13 PM »
Hello,

I would like to hear the differences between the Immaculate Heart Seminary (SSPV) and the Most Holy Trinity Seminary (+Sanborn) based on formation, education, etc. Also, I'm guessing the priestly duties are like being a missionary priests like those of the Resistance. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Let me know what you have learned about them. Thank you and God Bless.

You may have seen this already but posting it just in case you haven’t.

The first link has some playlists talking about their seminary. The second link is videos of the actual classes. If I could go I’d go to MHT seminary, but Im only saying that because I like Bp. Sanborn. I watch the course videos a lot.

Unfortunately I’m ineligible for the priesthood(born out of wedlock. Devastating to learn that. Probably biggest heartache after not being able to enjoy the holidays with a Catholic family. Im a convert), but it sounds like you or someone you know is and I will pray for you. I wish you all the best.

Also, I know I overshared a bit there but I said it because I want you to know that if I could do it I’d trade places with you if I could. Im sure there are others on here who can answer your questions better. God bless you.

What trad community would enforce that impediment during emergency times as we are currently experiencing?

I call selective enforcement of caon law since other canons are wholly disregarded because "epikeia".

ElwinRansom1970, I’ll send you a PM. I don’t want to make this thread about me. 👍

SSPVer here. I can not speak for MHTS but figure that many others can. If you go to the Immaculate Heart Seminary, you will have to become a member of the Congregation of St. Pius V. That's the most important difference. CSPV priests live communally and travel to the missions by means of car or airplane. MHTS only lasts seven years whereas IHS lasts eight years. In terms of courseload, they should be mostly the same. IHS' staff is mostly, if not exclusively, "new guard" priests, whereas I am to understand that MHTS has a few "old guard" priests left.
