Devil Strongest on Thursdays?

  • Greetings, first post here.

Has anyone heard of the devil being strongest on Thursdays - especially in our times? I am thinking about this because pseudo-saint John Paul II pushed for the replacement of the Joyful Mysteries with the Luminous novelties he invented for Thursdays. Since these novelties are not from heaven, and they are not what our Lady of Fatima wanted use to meditate upon (also not given to St. Dominic from heaven), then they objectively inferior at least.

It stands to reason that a lot of the Catholic world that already prays the Rosary has perhaps adopted these pseudo-mysteries – I have personally seen this dozens of times in many places. Hence, could the devil is strongest on this day? There also may be a parallel here with Our Lord being betrayed on Thursday when the devil entered Judas.

    Thoughts?

  • No, I've never heard of that, it sounds rather superstitious to me.

  • Oh, what I mean is, since the full power of the Rosary is not utilized on Thursdays as much, then the devil would subsequently be stronger on that day.

  • Amos - Suffer my long intro.  Christ says blessed are they who believe and have not seen.  With that said, do not dabble(aka learn about/inquire into)with the occult/the devil.  The church traditionally recommends us to do penance on certain days and at certain times of the year.  Those days tend to be wednesdays, fridays, and saturdays.  That can be enough to let you know the devil will be more active on those days(because our peity pains him).  So, watch your language, the devil may actually be weakest on those days.  Friday and saturday nights are drunkard nights for many, and we do penance on those days.  And, wednesday, not thursday is the day when the devils venerate judas.  It was wednesday when mary magdalen was anointing Christ that intent to betray Jesus materialized in judas.

As to the luminous mysteries, don't let that one bother you much.  Let all the nude art(which is the forbidden fruit of neglecting to bury the dead and/or neglecting to observe modesty) and other traditionally approved near occasions of sin concern you.  The luminous mysteries is a small fish.  And, it is wrong thinking that everything that comes from a heretic is ipso facto bad, especially when they are arguably the pope.  I would simply recommend you have a doubt about the luminous mysteries.  Because, the traditional clergy(sspx) have not embraced them.
