  • "For the Apostle says that a woman does better if she does not marry." - St. Thomas Aquinas on 1 Timothy 2

Gregory of nαzιanzus interpreted the "childbearing" in 1 Timothy 2:15 in a spiritualized or allegoric sense, referring to the bearing of spiritual fruit, rather than physical motherhood being the literal means of a woman's personal salvation.

This approach was common among many early Church Fathers (including Gregory of Nyssa and Origen) who shared Gregory's ascetic sensibilities and were anxious about the literal interpretation of the passage, which seemed to conflict with the high value they placed on virginity and celibacy as a superior spiritual path.

In other words, it's not the childbearing that will save her soul.

I gave qualifications earlier on. You are either a clumsy reader or just trying to stir trouble.

It cannot be an absolute obviously,  but the natural leads into the supernatural, and for most women the actual act of bearing physical children is that immediate means of saving her soul. With the already outlined qualifiers.

You were the one who inserted the word "rather" in reference to most women.

That was not the Church Fathers that did this.

I am glad you are running. As you were not very honest.

40, I’m an older millennial! I am familiar with that style of music and enjoy it but unfortunately can’t dance like those guys. What’s YOUR age? In UK no one says ‘coloured’ for black people, except my late grandmother and her generation (she died 15 years ago). I think Americans use that term.

Middle-of-the-era Boomer, born out of time! No, I’m blessed to walk with a cane. Can’t dance at all and when I could, not that way! I’m white, Irish/Polish/Russian. No, we definitely do not say colored in the US unless you have a death wish. I meant it tongue-in-cheek, (ironic humor!) My parents’ generation said colored until the late 1970’s. After that, it was “African American,” then, Persons of Color, and now, just “Black” with capital B only if race must be mentioned. You can’t specify gender anymore, even if it’s obvious. Example, “The person ran all 26.2 miles and they reached the finish line in eight hours.”

  • For women that works. Their window of opportunity is much, much narrower. In fact it is recommended for so many these days as they are just intolerable women, and it is sparing some unfortunate man.

Men just have to wait it out longer.

Give it time, society is already changing rapidly. The present generation of women were raised by very weak fathers and this is why so many of them are and will be single. (45% by 2030 and that excludes single mothers). Wont be the case for the next generation.

Men have the choice to marry much younger or outside their country.

    Patience gentlemen, patience.
The problem with men waiting is that most ladies aren't interested in old men. So by the time they can provide it's hard for them to find someone who is genuinely interested in them.

And race mixing (if that's what you meant by outside the country) is not something that should be encouraged.

  • Mental gymnastics. It says what it says. Let he who has ears, hear.
You are wrong here. Having children does not save a woman unless she also keeps the faith.

The first sense of scripture is literally. But in Catholic doctrine we know that if someone dies outside the Church or in mortal sin they are damned. So even if a woman has children she still needs to be Catholic, be in the state of grace and raise her children properly, do her duties etc.

    You have to have BOTH.
That should have been the OBVIOUS interpretation of my words.
