Someone I know recently went through RCIA in the local NO parish. She was raised in a protestant household, but rarely attended protestant services. She was never baptized.
Apparently, during the RCIA process, during Lent, each of those in the program make a first Confession. This makes sense to me for those who had been baptized by protestants, and will merely be confirmed into the NO church (putting aside the issues of validity of protestant baptisms for the moment). However, it doesn't really make sense to me for those that haven't been baptized yet. Can someone who is not baptized even have their sins absolved in Confession? What would the purpose of the Confession be if all sins are cleansed in baptism anyway?
