    Condemnations of "prayer in common"

A few quotes from the Church condemning prayer in common with non-Catholics:

     * "It is not permitted at all for the faithful to assist in any active manner at or to have any part in the worship of non-Catholics." 1917 Code of Canon Law, Canon 1258

     * "The Code declares the following persons as suspect of heresy: 1. The propagators of heresy and those who participate with non-Catholics in divinis (Can. 2316)" Commentary on Canon Law (Augustine, 1918) Canon 2315

     * "Those who communicate with heretics in divinis are themselves suspect of heresy" Commentary on Canon Law (Augustine, 1918): Canon 2316

     * "If any ecclesiastic or layman shall go into the ѕуηαgσgυє of the Jєωs or to the meeting-houses of the heretics to join in prayer with them, let them be deposed and deprived of communion. If any Bishops or Priest or Deacon shall join in prayer with heretics, let him be suspended from Communion" III Council of Constantinople

     * "None must neither pray or sing psalms with heretics, and whosoever shall communicate with those who are cut off from the communion of the Church, whether clergy or layman, let him be excommunicated" Council of Carthage, 398

     * "No one shall pray in common with heretics and schismatics" Council of Laodicea

     * "It is therefore unlawful, and a profanation, and an act the punishment of which is death, to love to associate with unholy heretics, and to unite oneself to their communion" St. Cyril of Alexandria

     * "I will not pray with you, nor shall you pray with me; neither will I say 'Amen' to your prayers, nor shall you to mine" St. Margaret Clitherow

     * "Another matter to which much importance is attached is the annual "Universal Week of Prayer", observed the first complete week in January of each year since 1846. At this time the Alliance invites all Christians to join in prayer, the programme being prepared by representatives of all denominations and printed in many different languages......From its principles the Evangelical Alliance is necessarily opposed to the doctrine and authority of the Catholic Church; and Catholics, while sympathizing with the desire for union among Christians, realize that the unity by which we are made one in Christ is not to be won by such methods" Catholic Encyclopedia, the Evangelical alliance
