  • It doesn't matter what Father Feeney said.  It matters what popes Clement V, Eugene IV, Paul III said.

  • 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

  • I don't think I understand what you are trying to say.
There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

  • You say that Fr. Feeney does not deny BoD, yet he states it is heresy.

As when he says in that chapter:

    Quote
"....such metaphorical expressions in theology as "Baptism of Desire" and "Baptism of Blood"

He is referring to this decree against those beliefs:

    Quote
Pope Paul III, Council of Trent, Session 7, 1547, On Baptism, Canon II, ex cathedra:"If any one saith, that true and natural water is not of necessity for baptism, and, on that account, wrests, to some sort of metaphor, those words of our Lord Jesus Christ; Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost; let him be anathema."
    2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

  • I have not read the book and was only commenting on what is posted above. The words 'side by side' infer that there is such a thing as BoD.

Without getting into the theological debate about this, my opinion of Fr Feeney rests on the phoney piece of paper claiming he was ex-communicated. The docuмent is not signed by any Ecclesiastical authority what so ever.

  • The intent of my post has been mistook. My comment was meant as a shot at CM because the way he never ceases to worry about this waste of time topic. It reminds me of Protestants and their Sola Scriptura.

It is just my opinion as a layman and a historian that the docuмent purporting to ex-communicate Fr Feeney is a fraud.

What this means to me is that the Pope( who of course CM sees as an anti-pope) took no action against the the man. In fact Pope Pius responded to Fr Feeney's exhortations to Rome with Humanum Generis in 1950.

That is the authority I follow without getting involved in a theological dispute that I am not qualified to judge.

  • How is fighting heresy a waste of time roscoe?  Maybe for the lukewarm souls, but I pray to Mary that I am not one of those.
