  • People seem confused on what adultery from the Christian perception is. Like a lot of issues, people confuse the legal definition for the Christian one.

    Adultery:

    1) Any act of sex outside the seal of marriage of marriage regardless if the person or persons involved are married,

    2) The primary victim is God.

    3) We detest our sins because they offend God.

So, you can be single and have sex with another single person and you commit adultery. Masturbation is adultery too. Mental fantasy is also adultery if it is dwelt upon.

I thought those things were impurity, self-abuse, and/or fornication.

Adultery means "mixing in foreign material".

Adulterated hamburger is when they add some cheaper meats to the mix.

If you adulterate something, you add something foreign to the mix. You take away from the purity and "oneness" of something.

Perhaps because the Jєωs were so carnal-minded, and took everything literally, the Jєωs were forbidden by God to sow two kinds of seed in their fields.

  • Crossbro, you could very easily look this up and without ever posting it here. You've gotten it wrong, as we so often do when we don't look it up first.
It would be comparatively easy for us to be holy if only we could always see the character of our neighbours either in soft shade or with the kindly deceits of moonlight upon them. Of course, we are not to grow blind to evil

  • From the old Catholic Encyclopedia:

    Quote
    Nature of adultery

Adultery is defined as carnal connection between a married person and one unmarried, or between a married person and the spouse of another. It is seen to differ from fornication in that it supposes the marriage of one or both of the agents.

I'm so glad I had time to Google that for you.

I think you are the one who need to learn how to read. You commit the exact error I wrote in the OP. Using the legal term and confusing the entire Christian Principle. That is because you only think you are Christian but in reality you are of the world, correct ?

I stated correctly that in the Christian sense, the victim of sin is God and the offense is against God. Therefore any sex act outside the seal of marriage is adultery.

I did not make this up by myself and could provide a quote that will make you look dumber than a rock, but I think I will let you and your buddy dig your holes a little deeper first.

  • BTW, I'm really hoping this reaches some sort of conclusion before I have to leave.  This is going to be good, perhaps a nuclear explosion of historic proportions, and I'd hate to miss it.

I don't know how this board manages to attract the most volatile and ignorant teenagers, but y'all sure do.

  • OH!  HAHAAAAAAA!   WOOOOOO!

I just figured out which group teaches what Crossbro posted about adultery -

    THE MORMONS!

Go look it up on their websites.  It's in any of their explanations of the 6th commandment.

    AWESOME!

I'm the pernicious heretic, but here you have somebody repeating Mormon theology on here, authoritatively!

    AWESOME!

All sin is ultimately against God, yet that does not make all sins equal. Show us a Catholic source that explains it the way you believe.

Are you related to bowler and stubborn?
