  • Hi Folks,

I'm quite new to this forum and I haven't yet written my "Welcome" post, in which I plan to introduce myself proper; but I just ran across a bit of news that I thought I should share. Apparently Archbishop Charles Chaput is to be moved to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

    http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking/20110718_Denver_bishop_to_replace_Cardinal_Rigali.html?cmpid=125219969

The article above describes him as an "articulate conservative," which is laughable. Chaput is one of the slickest and most successful of Newchurch liberals there is, smothering his rank socialism under just enough Catholic ganache to keep the masses suitably intoxicated. But more on that another time. This move may impact me personally, since I live in the Archdiocese of Denver. I just hope and pray that the next bishop, whoever he is, will not be one of the more militant enemies of Tradition, and will not molest the FSSP chapel that I recently began attending.

I am lucky enough to have the FSSP, the SSPX, and the CMRI all within a half hour's drive from my house; I know that many others are not nearly so fortunate. I will be praying hard to keep the beautiful TLM that I just found, and will continue to fight the battle to restore Tradition on every possible front. Please pray for me, and I will do so also for you.

A more thorough introduction will (hopefully) follow soon. I just found this forum a week ago, and it has helped me already. Thanks.

  • You are extremely fortunate to have access to three different Traditional chapels. I don't have access to one anywhere near me. I don't know much about Chaput, but my Bishop is quite liberal. He won't allow the Traditional Latin Mass, he says he prefers the Spanish Mass and that the TLM "puts too much stress on the clergy". Anyway, I understand Benedict is moving alot of the Bishops and Archbishops around in the US for some reason. I'm hoping my area is next.

Be assured of my prayers. And welcome to CatholicInfo.

    God Bless.

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Thank you, Penitent. I had forgotten to mention that chapel in Aurora.

I am sorry to hear about your situation, SpiritusSanctus. After reading through some of the threads on this site, I am saddened by the lengths others must go to in order to find a TLM. And to think this Mass was once available everywhere. I have indeed been surfeited with an embarrassment of riches. Be assured of my prayers as well.

Thank you for the welcome, Smart Sheep. It indeed looks like bumpy rides all around. My immediate gut response to the departure of Chaput, was a guardedly cautious "good riddance" ; subject to change, of course, depending on who his replacement turns out to be.

  • I would like to say I expect great things from Archbishop Chaput.  I really would.  Instead, I will be more realistic and just say that I hope for great things from His Grace.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir
