  • I think we need to do more of this.  Sign me up.

  • I think it's great that they took a stand, but I'm not sure shouting the Rosary in protest is appropriate.

    True enough.

I wonder what the Pope will do when he finds out about this!

  • If he is truly concerned about being ecuмenical then he should invite the SSPX to the next interfaith meeting.

"An inter-faith meeting is a place where a Jєωιѕн rabbi, who does not believe in the divinity of Christ, and a Protestant minister, who doubts it, get together with a Catholic priest who agrees to forget it for the evening." - Fr. Feeney

"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

    True enough.

After reading the response on the SSPX website it looks like they weren't shouting the Rosary in protest.

  • So what are they protesting? a memorial against anti semitism or the fact that there was an ecuмenical gathering at the cathedral?

  • There is a video of the whole thing...

It is against Catholic Law for a Cathedral to be used in this way.

Looks like the SSPX was standing up for righteousness and taking it on the chin...

Let us stand with them while we still can...

  • Thanks for posting that video LoverOfTradition.

Wait till Our Lord gets ahold of those thieves!

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the chairs of them that sold doves: And he saith to them: It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.

The hard part to watch is that the people there think this is about them.  It's not.  It's about the Vatican II church.  If you look at them they do not understand what is happening.  Because the Vatican II church has been doing things like this for 50 years now, they just don't understand what these SSPX folks are doing and why they are doing it.

  • I just had to share this post from FE.  Kudos to this poster who I am not familiar with:

Well, they are actually doing something to combat the sacrilege that is happening.  Of course, I'd question the value of their actions and if there was a better way to do it, but it made the news at least.  It's quite odd to see these Catholics accused of Neo-nαzιsm simply because they were opposing a Jєωιѕн worship ceremony in what is supposed to be a Catholic Cathedral. I don't think people understand what National Socialism actually is and what it stands for. It is certainly not a synonym for anti-semitism, anyway.

The SSPX are often accused of anti-semitism. People seem to forget that there's a sizable portion of the Church that are in fact semites themselves -both the hebrew type and the arabic type.  By the standards that people are accused of anti-semitism today, our good Lord Jesus Christ would be considered an αnтι-ѕємιтє. He thoroughly opposed the ideology and practices of the Jєωs during his time incarnate. Further, we read in the Epistles of Jєωs rejecting Christianity and so on. So to say that criticizing ideologies like Communism, nαzιsm, Islam or Judaism is somehow anti-semitic is just ridiculous.

The important thing to remember in this is that somebody actually did something about this madness. Somebody decided to take an action (however ineffective, ill-thought out or whatever) that exposed the problems with this behavior. You have to remember that in the past, when religion actually meant something, people would rather die than let sacrilege occur.

  • Thank you, Stubborn, for providing us with Fr. Feeney's quote:  "An interfaith meeting is a place where a Jєωιѕн rabbi, who does not believe in the divinity of Christ, and a Protestant minister, who doubts it, get together with a Catholic priest, who agrees to forget it for the evening."

Woe, woe, woe, unto you priests-wolves.  You have maliciously scandalized the souls placed in your care and you will answer for this crime against Almighty God!  "To whom much is given, much is required ..."

  • Sorry for the second post; the last half didn't make it.

It is was entirely appropriate that the Rosary was loudly recited.  Our Lady bequeathed this most marvelous weapon against the heresies to us and the faithful Argentinian Catholics made use of it.  Would that there were more courageous soldiers ready to fight that glorious battle.

  • "I recognize the authority of the pope, but he is not infallible and in this case does things we cannot accept," Bouchacourt said in an interview with Radio La Red.

The pope is not infallible? :confused1:
