  • Where exactly does Cardinal Koch's loyalty lay?

  • I read the article and it's really funny.  The Cardinal mentioned "anti-semitism" and his example of anti-semitism was the dropping of the reading from the old testament during mass.  Man, that's a very low threshold for anti-semitism.  I guess according to the Cardinal, attending a Traditional Latin Mass would make one a raging αnтι-ѕємιтє hellbent on murder.

BTW, isn't the "first reading" from the OT in the novus ordo an invention?  Isn't it true that the TLM always had an epistle reading?

The Missale Romanum contains many Masses with Epistles taken from the Old Testament, especially Masses in honor of The Blessed Virgin Mary.  For example, this Epistle for The Feast of The Queenship of The Blessed Virgin Mary, ECCLI. 24. 5-31.

"I came out of the mouth of the Most High, the first-born before all creatures.  I dwelt in the highest places, and my throne is in a pillar of cloud.  And I have stood in all the earth, and in every people, and in every nation I have had the chief rule.  And by my power I have trodden under my feet the hearts of all the high and low.  He that hearkeneth to me shall not be confounded, and they that work by me shall not sin.  They that shall explain me shall have life everlasting."

Consult your favorite Roman Missal, mine being The Saint Andrew Daily Missal.

The Feast of The Queenship of The Blessed Virgin Mary was instituted by Pope Pius XII on October 11, 1954.  This Feast is on the Universal Kalendar.  The date of this Feast is May 31.  It is transferred this year to June 4, because May 31 falls on Pentecost Thursday, within the Octave of Pentecost.  An Ordo for the current year is a very handy resource.

October 11 is The Feast of the Divine Maternity, instituted by Pope Pius XI.

  • Also in the past there would have been a Prophecy from the OT during Mass. The remnant of these readings can be seen during the Ember Days.

I have The Saint Andrew Daily Missal from St. Bonaventure press, which is a reprint of the 1945 edition.

I also have The Saint Andrew Daily Missal, published in 1957 (Great Britain edition) with the Pope Pius XII changes.  This is an original edition and has not been republished.

Yes, my  avatar is beautiful!  It is Saint Anne de Beaupre.  Saint Anne is my Baptismal Saint.
