Can laywomen clean in the sanctuary?
I thought only men (or perhaps nuns, sacristaines) were allowed in the sanctuary.

I have mixed thoughts on this.

The priest in the church wants a clean church, but is too busy to do it himself. The women are better at doing the actual cleaning.  In our current times, there are not enough nuns close by to clean these churches.

But, a laywomen who is allowed to clean the sanctuary, if she is not humble, can think that she is more important than she actually is.

So what should the priest do?  Force the men to clean? Thoughts?

The cleaning group at our parish has a unique set up. If cleaning of the sanctuary is done while people are present, then the assigned lady will  engage her husband and sons to specifically clean the altar. If nobody is at the church, then the lady will clean the area.   The woman who heads the cleaning assigns specific women for different tasks and it seems as though she is prudent with the choices.

There used to be the altar and Rosary society.  They prayed the Rosary and cleaned the Chapel.

There seems like a lack of humility in many churches where men and women are big show offs and gossips.  The sin of pride and jealousy is everywhere instead of Christian unity.
