It should be noted that the same week that Pope Francis said, "Who am I to judge?" the excommunication of a gαy marriage advocating priest in Australia was ordered by the Vatican.

Just stop posting this.  It is NOT an accurate representation of what actually happened.

http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=19138

A dissident Catholic priest who broke from the Archdiocese of Melbourne, Australia to found a new “inclusive” congregation has been excommunicated.

Greg Reynolds, who had announced in 2011 that he was “resigning” as a Catholic priest, was also laicized.

Melbourne’s Archbishop Denis Hart said that Reynolds—a supporter of same-sex marriage and of women’s ordination-- was excommunicated because he continued to engage in ministry after his priestly faculties were suspended. The excommunication apparently was imposed by the Vatican rather than the Melbourne archdiocese.

It appears that the priest chose to break away on his own and then continued to minister as a Catholic priest.  It was the latter that brought about the excommunication, not his dissident views.  It appears to me that if he had not broken away, everything would be hunky dory.

Thanks for this post 2Vermont.

Actually the excommunication was fairly quick and decisive when compared to other dissidents. For example Father Bourgois had several layers of punishments, suspension, excommunicationm, expulsion from the religous community to which he belonged for many years. All of these came following periods of reflection, some of which were extended to allow for more "time to think about it." In fact the excommunication was considered something of a surprise because apparently none of these "time to think about it" periods of reflection was given to this priest who advocated gαy marriage.

As for Our Lord eating with sinners, He didn't sleep with pigs. He did not keep company with Sodomites. He didn't hug and kiss the money changers in the temple and say nice, friendly things to them, did He.

Jesus said that when the Pharasee and the publican went to the temple to pray, God heard the prayer of the publican.

Where are the repentant Sodomites doing penance? Hmmm?

Even without the penance -- where are the repentant sodomites???

They may be closer to you than you realize.

I hope you're not talking about posters here.  :stare:

No, they are not closer than they appear. When they come close by the grace of God of putting away their lifestyles because of the 1st Commandment (" I am the Lord thy God; thou shalt not have strange gods before Me."), and they go to church, are they supported, or are they tempted back into their sinful lifestyle because the "vicar" says "Who am I to judge?" while Jesus says "I AM". (See the tiny little disparity there?)

Reason to yourself: do you believe that Sodomites (SSA, whatever) who are penitent are going to be picking up a copy of the Advocate? And if so, are they going to be feeling a lot of consolation, or are they going to be seeing an ADVOCATE for their sinful "feelings"?

Is Frank drawing them closer to the Church Universal which stretches back 2,000 years, or is Frank embracing them as is to "win souls"? Because IF it's the latter, WHO EXACTLY is he "winning" souls for?)

Please link to where Frank has said anywhere clearly (or even not clearly), "GET BAPTISED AND REPENT OF YOUR SINS, Sodomites!"

I am talking about maybe some one who could be sitting close to you when you go to mass this Sunday.
