Excellent post Lads, I 've never read such a concise but detailed "Hierarchy" of Church dogma/teachings.
You should post this on the LIBRARY board for wider readership!
Fr. Greg Hesse has 5 levels in his Hierarchy of Truths, but your distilled yet expanded analysis is great...Thank you.
There must exist some distinct domains in the governance of the Catholic Church, because to make decisions concerning the spiritual realm ultimately has consequences when its application is in the practical realm, i.e. Christ the King of Society = promoting civil laws that reflect this dogma.
So, can someone explain how the "imbecile" conductors of the Holy Catholic Church, who have legit authority, are on the one hand declaring TRUTH to the entire world, 95% of the time offering wise decisions, but on the other hand might be scandalous popes/clerics. My gut feeling is that the authority must be respected [Chair of Peter for example], as authority comes from God.

"Vatican I...that the pope teaches with "infallibility" - i.e., without error - when, by virtue of his office as successor of St. Peter, he proposes a teaching on faith or morals to be definitively believed by all of the faithful. The First Vatican Council offered this important clarification, however:
For the Holy Spirit was promised to the successors of Peter not so that they might, by his revelation, make known some new doctrine, but that, by his assistance, they might religiously guard and faithfully expound the revelation or deposit of faith transmitted by the apostles (Session 4, Chapter 4, 6). "
For the doctrine of the faith which God has revealed is put forward not as some philosophical discovery capable of being perfected by human intelligence, but as a divine deposit committed to the spouse of Christ to be faithfully protected and infallibly promulgated.
Popes have a terrible responsibity.!
