    • Can a candidate be validly "consecrated" to the Bishopric without first becoming a priest or deacon? What are the sources for these?

    • The episcopate contains the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders, so I would think so.  I have no sources in my head and am too lazy to look for any, so I may well be wrong.  I can't think of a good reason to actually do this even if it is valid, however.

    • St. Ambrose whose preaching brought St. Augustine to the Faith had to be baptized in order to be made a bishop.  But that was in the 300s.  Maybe the laws have changed since then!
