Title: Bishop Robert Mckenna Supports Feeneyite Book?
Post by: romantheology on October 28, 2011, 08:13:59 AM
Read the Preview to this book by a Feenyite (in defense of Feeney's doctrine) in which it is stated that Bishop Robert Mckenna endorses a layman's book written by an unknown author Steven Speray.

  Interesting.

I think you have this back to front.

The description of the book on Lulu says:-

"This book is an explanation and defense of the particular Catholic doctrine of Baptism of Desire and Blood."

It is evident from Steven Speray's website that he DEFENDS the Church's doctrine of Baptism of Desire and Baptism of Blood.

There is no such thing as a 'Feeneyite'.

Steven Speray - Denies Implicit Baptism of Desire / Blood....and in addition, says INVINCIBLE IGNORANCE - Does Not Save in necessity.

Invincible ignorance in itself cannot save. If you don't believe that you must die a Roman Catholic to save your soul, you are  a heretic. To call Steve Speray a "Feenyite" is laughable. Where does he deny implicit baptism of desire? Where do you find the authoritative Church teaching on implicit baptism of desire?

You proved the above point then, CMRI, SSPX, SSPV all teach implicit baptism and faith in invicible ignorance can save....

Why did Bishop Robert Mckenna who condemns Feeney approve of Speray's book? Did Mckenna change his mind?

Let's try this again, I know how people avoid ?

Hi. There are so many grammatical issues with what you have written that I cannot possibly respond. Simply put, it is a HERESY to believe that simply NOT KNOWING can lead to the beatific vision. The Church teaches the sacrament of baptism is necessary for salvation, even it be a perfect implicit desire for it.

Ven. Pope Pius IX

SINGULARI QUIDEM

7. These are the people whom the Church seeks to bring back to sound reasoning with these words: "What is there more contrary to reason than to seek to exalt oneself above reason by means of reason itself? And what is more contrary to faith than to not want to believe that which we cannot attain by reason?"[15] She never ceases to repeat to them that faith bases itself not on reason but on authority[16] because it is not suitable that God, in speaking to mankind, should use arguments, as if we could refuse to believe. Rather, He spoke as was appropriate, as the supreme judge of everything, who does not have to argue but who rather issues His pronouncements.[17] The Church clearly declares that the only hope of salvation for mankind is placed in the Christian faith, which teaches the truth, scatters the darkness of ignorance by the splendor of its light, and works through love. This hope of salvation is placed in the Catholic Church which, in preserving the true worship, is the solid home of this faith and the temple of God. Outside of the Church, nobody can hope for life or salvation unless he is excused through ignorance beyond his control. The Church teaches and proclaims that if sometimes we can use human wisdom to study the divine word, our wisdom should not for that reason proudly usurp to itself the right of master. Rather, it should act as an obedient and submissive servant, afraid of erring if it goes first and afraid of losing the light of interior virtue and the straight path of truth by following the consequences of exterior words.
