There is a large reliquary/tomb behind the main altar containing the relics of the 3 Kings, Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar.
Their artistry is world class, and the structure they maintain is second to none.
And Germans have a rather unique sense of humor.
I wonder if they're not doing their part to make a subtle statement.
They have a stone carving shop next to the Church where carvers work nonstop remaking parts for the basalt structure.
It's been suffering severe decay from acid rain and time, a monumental task.
Perhaps this is their attempt at breaking the monotony in some small way.
The local skin heads that hang around outside have utterly no respect for the magnificent edifice.
But Bishop-of-Rome Francis would no doubt be very accommodating to, and receptive of them in their contemptuous state.
Let's see if he or his caricature makes any difference.
