  • California bishop laments effects of climate change

    Catholic World News
    March 15, 2012

Bishop Patrick McGrath of San Jose has asked parishioners in his diocese to renew the St. Francis Pledge on Earth Day.

“By taking this pledge,” he noted, “we agree to pray to reflect on our responsibility to care for God's creation and protect the poor and vulnerable; learn about and educate others about climate change; assess how we contribute to climate change in our homes, our schools, our parishes and in the chancery; act to reduce our climate change impact; [and] advocate Catholic principles in climate change discussions and policy work.”

“We have seen how environmental degradation and climate change are affecting God’s creation, including people here and all over the world,” Bishop McGrath added. “This is a particular tragedy because it is the poorest and most vulnerable who suffer the worst, even though they have contributed the least to these problems. This fact prompted Pope John Paul II to declare that ‘the ecological crisis is a moral issue’ and Pope Benedict XVI to call upon us to become ‘true guardians of life and creation.’”

“Our Catholic Social Justice Teaching impresses upon us that nature is not something to exploit; rather, is God's creation to preserve,” he added. “We are called to celebrate the splendor of God's handiwork, to be good stewards of creation, and to safeguard the integrity of all that God has made.”

  • Yeah, he whines about the "ecological crisis" but doesn't say anything about the crisis in the Church! What nonsense.

  • This man is a bishop? This is revolting. The unborn die by the millions, the US marches towards compelling Catholics to violate their conscience by paying for others birth control, we're on the verge of socialized medicine and rationed care, divorce rate is over 50%, Catholics elected Obama in 08, bishops are apologizing to practicing lesbian Buddhists for not giving them the Body of Our Lord, gαy marriage is being legalized in state after state, and he can think of nothing else to pray for or worry about than fictitious man made global warming? Why doesn't he just be honest and become a Druid?

  • Hey man, you should worry about the religious climate change in your own diocese. Where so many Filipino and now also Vietnamese people are going Protestant.

San Jose diocese area is like a microcosm of the Catholic Church today. A large number of kooky Novus Ordo parishes, a few conservative Novus Ordo's, an Indult, and a few independents and SSPX.

  • What this bishop has to say is just a little too common in almost any novus ordo parish in the U.S.

  • Not only is McGrath an obese pasty FAG who has been caught photographing young boys at the beach, who has featured nearly nude male "Aztec" dancers at his "confirmations," and who has given the plenary speech at "Dignity" sodomite conventions, he says this:

    Quote

“While the primary source material of the film [Gibson’s The Passion] is attributed to the four gospels, these sacred books are not historical accounts of the historical events that they narrate. They are theological reflections upon the events that form the core of Christian faith and belief.”

So on Good Friday are these clowns mourning the tree used to build the Cross?
