  • He drops the filique to please the Orthoducks, and he changes the "I believe…" to 1st person plural ("We believe…"). Here's my translation of the Italian:

    Quote from: Bergoglio's ecuмenical Credo
    We believe in One God
    Father, Omnipotent,
Creator of the heaven and the earth, of the visible and of the invisible
    ~
And [we believe] in a One Lord,
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten,
the Begotten from the Father before all the ages,
[God from God], light from light, true God from true God
begotten not made, consubstantial to the Father
    through whom all was created.
    He [who] for us, men,
and for our salvation descended from the heavens
and was incarnated by the Holy Spirit
and from Virgin Mary was made human.
Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate,
    He [who] died and buried
and rose the third day, according to Scripture
and ascended into the heavens, and enthroned at the right hand of the Father
and will again return in glory judging the living and the dead
He, whose Kingdom will not have end.
    ~
And [we believe] in the Holy Spirit
    the Lord and the Vivifier
who departs from the Father [no filioque ("…and from the Son")!]
and with the Father and the Son
    is Con-adored and Con-glorified
    Speaking through the Prophets.
    ~
    [We believe] the One church,
    Holy, Catholic and Apostolic
    ~
    We confess a Single baptism
for the remission of the faults ["faults" (culpe in Italian) not "sins" (peccati in Italian or peccatorum in Latin)!],
and we expect the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the future age
    ~Amen

What about peccatorum? (As in remissionem peccatorum - forgiveness of sins?)
    .
Woops -- I forgot to slide the bar down on the right because your quote box doesn't display the rest of your post.
    .
If you want your whole post to be visible and a quoted portion is long, you have to forego using the quote box.

  • Cera - Good catch.
If any one saith that true and natural water is not of necessity for baptism, and on that account wrests to some sort of metaphor those words of Our Lord Jesus Christ, "Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost...,"  Let Him Be Anathama.  -COUNCIL OF TRENT Sess VII Canon II “On Baptism"
