In this video, from about 10:28 - 11:15, Brother Peter Dimond makes a pretty eloquent statement regarding why lay people (especially those who are married and have children) should never be in the business of making most of their living from being a religious "influencers" (e.g. individuals like Taylor Marshall).
There are some examples, such as Gerry Matatics, who gave up his lucrative "apostolate" to remain faithful to his beliefs, even though many of us disagree with his positions, but the vast majority will "tailor" (pun intended) their message to their audience. Another example is Patrick Madrid, who became a Bennyvacantist, despite the harm it did to his financial security. They are exceptions, however, and when you have individuals like Taylor Marshall, who makes $200K per year off his Patreon channel alone, he's not about to put his family on welfare and food stamps in order to question the legitimacy of a Jorge Bergoglio. There were times you can see he was tempted to do so, but he quickly walked that back (undoubtedly due to pressure from the wife and the thought of losing a large portion of his audience). So he's never going to go where the truth leads due to fear of losing his lifestyle.
