  • Recent analysis of the Francis/Tony Palmer video rightly notes that it's so wrong to put the Francis Papacy at the center of the blame, when the 1999 Joint Catholic-Lutheran Declaration on Justification was signed under John Paul II.

However the video mentions a second bombshell, under Benedict XVI, which I believe so far has been missed:

Benedict XVI called charismatics.. not traditionalists, but charismatics, the future of the church!

In fact as Tony Palmer himself recounts, he was first brought into prominence, and called into Rome by... Francis? Nope. It was, you guessed it, by Benedict XVI. So did Benedict "set free the Latin mass", or, did he "set free the charismatic renewal" which counts 120-140 million Catholics as of today?

    Tony Palmer recounts:
    Quote
I was at the meeting in St. Peter's about a year and a half ago. It was Pentecost. Pope Benedict, there were 450,000 of us, outside of St. Peter's, singing 'Come Holy Spirit', all Catholics, except a couple of us... They put us on the front row, and the Pope was right next to us...

Pope Benedict said to all the Charismatic leaders, Catholic Charismatics, publicly. He said this in Italian to them: "You -- Charismatics -- you are the hope of the Church. And, you need to evangelize within before you can evangelize outside."

See for yourself at min11 of the full video:

I've tried to track down this bombshell address, but no luck so far. Maybe some enterprising person will get hands on it and subtitle it.
It seems totally absent from the Anglo-speaking Trad world, which would make it much easier to portray Benedict as a "hero pope":
