Course you realize that they will ignore this don't you Gladius?
In a way I feel sorry as his defender are probably suffering from a real Excedrin Tension headache with this.

  • Leo X may have excommunicated Luther, but he procrastinated for so long that it almost appears he helped him. The same could be said of Chas V. On the other hand, the Turkish threat was a distraction for Chas. preventing him from concentrating his full forces on the schism.

nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

  • I can recall several years ago the media stating that Luther would be canonized.

I would not be so quick to condemn an action that has not even taken place. I suppose we will give credence to the media since they are such a reliable source of information.

  • Christine Mugridge, The Rome Correspondant for Relevant Radio pointed out that this is nothing new and that John Paul II actually is the one who lifted the excommunication. She reported on this fact when a caller who was absolutely confused and scandalized called the radio show with a complete listing of Luther's heresies and even quotes of St. Pope Pius V. The shows host and Ms. Mugridge pointing out that we have new ways of looking at things of the past and that Rome now interpets things in a different way than the Popes in the past.
More true words were never spoken. If the heretic Luther stays "anathema" then were does that put the modern Popes who agree with the "drunken lout" as Pius V called Luther?

  • Dawn,

Hello.  I pray you are well, my dear friend.

Yes, I know that most (all?) will ignore this, but I present it nonetheless.

Mrs. Muggeridge (wife of Malcolm, who died a few years back - RIP) is blind, but even the blind "see" and admit certain obvious truths from time to time.  Thank you for the information.

God speed, my lady.  PLEASE pray for me.

    Eamon

  • So Richard Owen is obligated to have the same skeptical attitude towards Cardinal Kasper that Traditional Catholics have, and not the enthusiastically respectful and trusting attitude that the Catholic mainstream has?

The really horrible thing here is how people in the Vatican "play" journalists to see what happens and then some Catholics feel free to blacken the names of those journalists by exaggerating their occupational incompetency and projecting malice to them. This because they are thought not to "count" the way Churchmen "count." "They're only part of the secular world" or "we all know that the World has it out for the Holy Father and for the Church."

The affair of the non-Nativity Nativity scene is an even more striking example of this.

There is nothing wrong with the Owen piece except that Owen doesn't know that he has no business asking anyone at the Vatican what year it is.
