A classic technique of subjection - beat them with a stick (taking away their "Latin Mass") while promising them a carrot (some future "deal") if they just pray a little harder and patiently wait.
Then when the new "apostolate of the TLM" is formed Prevost will be hailed as a "Champion of Tradition", "Benedict #2", "finally we have a true traditional Pope" etc.
Ecclesia Dei #2 - that will keep them blind and zipped up for a few more decades of the wrecking ball (if we even have that long left).
