1938 Episcopal Consecration of Bishop Thuc
Peter Martin Ngô Đình Thục was consecrated a bishop on 4 May 1938, becoming the third Vietnamese priest raised to the episcopate. The principal consecrator was Archbishop Antonin-Fernand Drapier, the Apostolic Delegate to Indochina, while Bishops Isidore-Marie-Joseph Dumortier and Dominique Maria Hồ Ngọc Cẩn served as co-consecrators.

Thục, then aged 41, had been appointed by Pope Pius XI as the first Vicar Apostolic of Vĩnh Long and titular Bishop of Saesina on 8 January 1938. His consecration took place with his family in attendance, marking his entry into the higher clergy of the Catholic Church in Vietnam.

Cardinal Gregorio Pietro Agagianian served as one of the four moderators of the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965), appointed by Pope Paul VI to direct the course of debates. He was the only moderator from the Curia and represented the Eastern Catholic Churches, sitting on the Council's Board of Presidency from 1963 to 1965.

Agagianian played a special role in preparing key Council docuмents, including the missionary decree Ad gentes and the Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, Gaudium et spes. He was also the president of the Commission for the Missions during the Council, focusing on the Church's missionary mandate.
