Title: Au revoir
Post by: Raoul76 on June 30, 2009, 05:15:25 AM
Like two adversaries immolating each other in a fiery crash, I think it is also time for me to take a leave of absence along with Caminus.
Although in my case I hope it is only temporary.  Hence "au revoir" instead of "farewell."

I love the people here, but I do not love MYSELF when I am here.  I keep falling into the sin of intemperate speech.  Translation:  I have a big mouth and this website is not helping.

I'm tired of the cycle of thoughtlessly posting something, and then feeling guilty afterwards.  I can't take it anymore.  My whole body feels like it has been through the meat-grinder of guilt.  And even when I do think twice or thrice before speaking, I still make mistakes.   I am doing something wrong and need to consult with Mary in silence to figure out what it is.

Not to be a sob sister.  I'll probably pop in and leave brief comments in this section, the Crisis in the Church, where I have done okay.  It's elsewhere that I got into trouble.

I could have left this all unsaid except that I want to put a dividing line between the "old" Raoul76 and the "new" Raoul76, when and if I return.  Certain peccadilloes of mine must not be repeated.

B4 your sabbatical could you show us a specific act of Pius XII that reflects disapproval of Fr Feeney?

The debate over BoD aside, if the Pope or INQ never took any action  against Fr Feeney, then who are we to question them? No one here who condemns ' Feenyites' ( whatever that means) has ever given one actual piece of evidence to show he was out of favor with Pius XII and in fact( as has been shown imo) the Pope was a supporter of Fr Feeney.

Dimonds are NEO Feenyites-- only vaguely related to Fr Feeney.

The same exact thing as you report happened to me a couple of years ago when I was posting on the "Traditional" subforum of a well-known Catholic forum. I was warned twice by the moderators because of sarcastic and ill-tempered remarks I kept making to the same provocateurs whose only function seems to be to trip up unwary posters like me. I realized that the forum had become an occasion of sin for me and I stopped posting altogether. Eventually I joined this forum and while I still read some other Catholic forums I do not join in because I have that same propensity still.

Having said that, I would like to add that the great guide book The Spiritual Combat advises us that sometimes the best way to acquire a virtue is by practicing it. You can abstain from posting but will that help you acquire the virtues of prudence and temperance? I would be content never to post, only to read and enjoy others' comments. I post occasionally on purpose, in order that I can develop the necessary virtues of charity and humility. I think I have made progress. I will never know unless I try.

I should add that if I am in a bad mood or upset in any way I keep my hands off the keyboard. I point and click only.

You people [those whose Catholicism consists of ONE, incorrectly understood dogma] are something else - truly.
