  • I received an eye-opening e-mail today from someone:

My wife and I have offered to set up a lending library at our church.  The priest said it sounded good however...he said "no Tan books!"  He said they are filled with nonsense.

I am taken aback.  I am tempted to take this matter to the Bishop.
He is wrong and narrow. Any suggestions?

  • Wow -- I'm not sure what books the priest is particularly against, but most TAN books just put forth the Catholic Faith. MOST have nothing to do with the Liturgy at all -- we're talking Lives of the Saints, the spiritual life, etc.

If this priest is against the traditional Faith, not just the Traditional Latin Mass, it proves in a way that the Crisis is much more than just the Mass. It's as if this priest is part of a new religion, and he senses (rightly) that these Catholic books conflict with his religion.

Anecdotes like this explain why I'm convinced the Crisis concerns more than just the Mass and Liturgy -- it's about the Church's identity and Catholic Faith itself. This is why I'm not a "conservative" who attends the Indult Mass.

In the SSPX seminary, I was taught the history of all the modern errors, how they flowed together, transpired one after the other, and permanently affected the modern world. Because of this, I know that Vatican II wasn't an accident or a horrible misunderstanding (like the Conservatives believe), but a revolutionary eruption that occurred after centuries of build-up.

  • Yep, at an old parish of mine there was this wretched couple in charge of everything. The lady got rid of every worthwhile book, a couple at a time.

I had been asked to design a cover for a parish prayer book.  I did a simple Heart of Mary with the sword through it.  It was rejected because it was "too dramatic"   :scared2:

Tan books full of nonsense-what an outright lie.

That used to happen at my High School.

All of the unusual pre-Vatican II books were gradually taken away by our openly apostate history teacher / dean.

Most libraries seem to be controlled by people who refuse to allow conspiracy literature onto the shelves.

For example, President John Quincy Adams had a book published a long time ago: "Letters on the Masonic Institution" - it was not in the major university library.  At least the old seminary library still had it.
