  • Sedes,

Despite my deep disagreement with your fundamental position, I realize that my tone has recently been very harsh, sarcastic, and at times condescending. I regret this and while I continue to disagree with you, I will try to do so in the future in a more respectful and charitable manner.

I recognize that the argument is separate from the individual and, as individuals, many of you have gone through the same experiences we all have and are understandably shocked at what has happened to our Church in the last 50 or so years.

In any case, please accept my sincere apologies for any of my statements that were less than kind to any of you.

    Thank you for listening.

  • I have been a Traditional Catholic for many years and have been disheartened often with the disagreements in the fold of the Church but I'll tell you what I do every time I hear the lack of charity or anger from anyone about another's theories etc.  I say a prayer for unity of Catholics.  We all need to pray for unity and that's when you think about it, right?

Try it.  Not only will you be praying for Church unity but it will bring peace of soul to YOU and that is a precious gift in this world.  :incense:

  • You can thank the internet for that.  It amplifies the opinions of even the most ignorant and vicious giving the impression that there is great disunity.  I think that if we all met in person, it wouldn't look nearly as bad.  But those prayers for unity and humility are still greatly needed.

As I proposed in another thread, if I were important, I would call for a universal council of all traditional catholic clergy and laity so as to set out a course of action based upon simple principles of truth and virtue and thus effectively and formally engage the enemy within the Church.

  • This is a very edifying post, Stevus. Thank you for this example.

I hope that further discussion upon such controversial questions on the part of each member of this forum be free from anything that is beneath our dignity as rational adults endowed with an intellect that should dominate emotion and passion, and (above all) as temples of the Holy Ghost, hallowed and consecrated by the laver of Sacred Baptism and the unction of Holy Confirmation.

May the coming Paschal feasts remind us of the dignity of grace and the obligation we thereby have to charitably treat one another.
Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.

  • Then two hours later you post a thread called "Refutation of the Heresy of Sedevacantism."   :laugh1:

Personally, I barely even registered that you were being "harsh."  I just registered that you will never say a Pope is not the Pope no matter what he does.  Apology accepted -- but there is still little need to continue going around in circles, is there?
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

I didnt want to rain on stevus' apology parade, but lo and behold, stevus jumps right back on the anti-Tradition bandwagon as scheduled. He's never late to board that train.

  • Thanks GV, and everyone else.

Raoul & P.I.O., Posting the most recent article and asking for responses is not the same thing as a harsh tone, name calling etc. Please note the title was not mine! It was the author's. Looking for responses to its content which some posters have already provided. I'd be interested in yours, Raoul!

  • Its cool stevus. I know I don't comment much on your posts, its because Raoul and GV seem to be doing such a fine job and already point out everything I would have if I were to engage you in straight-up "theological combat", so to speak. This isn't about being right, just to make clear. It's about showing truth.

  • Stevus,

Speaking as another non-Sede here, that was a very gracious apology.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

This ground has been covered numerous times.  You must have me confused with Tantalus or Sisyphus, one of those guys.

    On with the passive-aggressive spamming...

It has not been covered numerous times with me. Have we covered everything in the article before? if so refresh my memory.

    Condemning sedes? Hardly.

I never claimed I agreed with the Sede position. I will continue to post counter arguments and discuss the issue.

And the sedevacantists should be willing to make the argument and not condemn one who posts a counter argument.
