I just found out that a Traditional Catholic apologist named Gerry Matatics resides in my local area (Northeast Pennsylvania). Before I contact him for the purposes of getting to know more Traditional Catholics, can anyone comment on whether or not he is reputable in terms of his theology? If anyone has met him or correspnded withhim in the past, can they tell me if he is helpful and courteous? I've listened to several lectures and was impressed but before I go out of my way to contact him, can anyone tell me if it is worth it?
Much appreciated.
Based on what I know of Gerry Matatics, he is, indeed, incredibly helpful and courteous, a true gentleman.
However... he is, as is noted here, a "home-aloner". He knows his Scripture, Church history, and theology backwards and forwards, but he goes entirely too far. "Home-alone-ism" goes beyond even sedevacantism.
I could recommend his earlier works without reservation, but once he went "home-aloner", I would approach more recent works of his with extreme caution.
