  • I went to this gorgeous church today to look around. (I know Our Lord isn't there anymore, but I still wanted to see the art, and the privileged altar, and the relics.) I was in there for more than an hour looking, but before we got to that, we (my mother and I,) spoke to this elderly sister there, and she was promoting this crappy nutty devotion. She gave us several pamphlets, that, after reading them, went right into the trash bin. I thought I would share the nuttiness for lols.

I can't even link you the "locutionist's" site, since it appears to have been detected as a virus to my computer.  :laugh1:

This "Anne" a.k.a. Katheryn Ann lady is nuts, and I feel bad for this nun that's trying to pass off this horse manure "devotion."

On a lighter note, here's the gorgeous church I went to. There are over 1100 relics at this church, and bones of a 13th century saint under the altar of the Sacred Heart.

    Enjoy.

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • What a gorgeous church, and it only took 4 years to build.  If I'm ever in the area I would love to see it.  I hope the wreckovators never get their hands on it.

I also love to tour old churches and think about the days when Our Lord was truly present under their roofs.  The art and architecture do so much to raise our minds to God.

There is Old St. Mary's in San Francisco (rebuilt after the 1906 quake) that is worth seeing.

I see that a degree of "wreckovation" has already been designed into the sanctuary (if it can truly be called that).
    For example:

    1. The altar is arranged "ad populum".
    2. There are no altar rails -- at least at the front -- suggesting that kneeling for the reception of Holy Communion is frowned upon.
    3. The 'peninsular' form of the podium seems intended to 'flatten' the distinction between the sacred ministers of the altar and the laity in attendance.

As for the rest -- a splendid architectural work, I think.
