  • Someone sent these alleged quotes from Popes and Church Hierarchy:

    Quote
We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty." Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903)

"The Pope takes the place of Jesus Christ on earth. By divine right, the Pope has supreme and full power in faith and morals over each and every pastor and his flock. He is the true Vicar of Christ, the Head of the entire Church, the father and teacher of all Christians. He is the infallible ruler, the founder of dogmas, the author of and the judge of councils, the universal ruler of truth, the arbiter of the world, the supreme judge of heaven and earth, the judge of all, being judged by no one, God Himself on earth." -New York Catechism (early 20th century)

"The Pope and God are the same." Pope Pius V (1566-1572)

"The Pope is of so great dignity, and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were, God. and the vicar of God." -Ferraris Ecclesiastical dictionary, 18th century.

"All names which in the Scriptures are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that He is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope." - On the Authority of the Councils, book 2, Chapter 17.

"The pope is the supreme judge of the law of the land . . . He is the vicegerent of Christ, and is not only a priest forever, but also King of kings and Lord of lords"--La Civilta Cattolica, March 18, 1871.

I believe I saw something about these quotes on another forum refuting these allegations. Does anyone know about these claims.

  • Only the  first and possibly the last seem legitimate to me: that is if they they are accurate quotes. . There have been all kinds of things attributed to certain popes over the centuries that have been wrong. Like the one about Leo X saying that the 'myth of Christ has served us well'.  Protestants love to use this alleged quote in their attempt to show that the popes are SOS, anti-christ etc. Pastor covers how it is a fraud.

Probably the most infamous of all libels is the one attributed to Marie Antoinette--she never said 'let em eat cake'.

What other Forum are you referring to?
There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

  • Are these quotes, if legitimate,  taken out of context? I know that Protestants have a lot of times made up 'quotes' to demonize the Pope or the RCC.

  • I guess these quotes are true but one can mistaken it for various interpretations.

I'm running out of time and I really don't have much time to explain right at the moment but I hope this helps.
