  • I got it to work this time. These figures are averages that include everyone they counted and excluded those they did not count.  Complicated hospital births no doubt predominate in these statistics. People who’ve used IVF are included in these figures. Babies born at home or at a birthing center cost much less. I know of many people who’ve had home births that cost very little. 
    I wouldn’t let statistics like these to deter me from having babies. (Not that I’ll be having any at my age!)

  • Yes home births cost way less than hospital in the US. I have heard people getting their births covered with good insurance or Medicaid. In Canada, birth is covered by taxpayers. As well as midwifery but there are so few of them and they are in high demand.
