  • More info re: the 1914 Conclave has been revealed in the latest book by the jew historian D. Kertzer.

Hitherto, it was known that Cardinal Del Val reacted to the (alleged?) election of Benedict XV(15?)  by exclaiming ' this is a calamity'. This tidbit is found in McNutt's Papal Chamberlain.

In his latest book--The Pope & Mussolini, the author says that Cardinal De Lai asked to see the ballot of Della Chiesa to determine if he voted for himself. We are left in suspense at this point as no further information is given.

I continue to suspect that Della Chiesa may be an anti-pope.  :detective:

  • I cannot locate an official tally of Cardinals in 1914. If Della Chiesa won by one vote & he voted for himself, his election is probably illegal.
