I have a few words to say:
1. I'm offended that such a group would smear the great Archbishop's name. The 1.0 version of the forum was run by 2 sedevacantists (of the 3 moderators), and both "versions" were quite harsh against Bishop Williamson and Fr. Zendejas!
+ABL himself certainly did not feel this way.
2. From day one, ABL forums was a ripoff of CathInfo. It offered nothing new to the Trad Forum scene.
3. ABL 2.0 was founded with the motivation that (I paraphrase here; I can't find the exact quote) "otherwise, the sole Resistance forum will be be [CathInfo] on which people actually believe Fr. Zendejas is good. Now that I've created ABL 2.0, I feel much better!"
So true, Tradfly, we can't have people believing that Fr. Zendejas isn't the devil. Carry on!
4. I am only blocking "pro boards.com" which is the host-of-choice for an endless series of "me too" sub-150-member forums, none of which are necessary. If you have important news and want people to actually see it and read it, cut & paste it onto CI. If there's something interesting on Bubba's Forum, I promise you it wasn't Bubba's own crack team of investigative reporters that wrote the original article :)
5. I would actually prefer, henceforth, that we just say "ABL forums" or something similar. I don't want to be Angelqueen with their Sedevacantist BLEEPS! As a man with some Irish blood, that kind of nonsense and anything-but-down-to-earth behavior repulses me. I believe we should call a spade a spade.
6. In particular, I don't want to give the impression that ABL Forums is CathInfo's "nemesis", like Russia and the United States, implying a certain equalness. Or that ABLF and CathInfo have a Ying/Yang relationship, that ABLF is an "anti-CathInfo". No, to be an Anti-CathInfo you'd have to be in the same league. They are not.
7. But I still don't want promotion of, or frequent links to such forums.
8. Take this second closure in (3?) months as a lesson. CathInfo and ABL forums are NOT equals. CathInfo has been around for 9 years and 2 months. All the old posts are still there. You post here, your posts stay. We're not going anywhere. But more importantly, you don't have to trust me or believe me. The proof is in the forum's history for all to see. This forum has been "tested" as it were. You know what to expect in 6 months, 12 months, or 2 years from now. We'll still be here.
When it's easy to start a forum in 15 minutes, it's also easy to close said forum. Easy come, easy go. Joining a new forum that hasn't been "tested" is always a risk. Has your new forum owner stuck with it for years, through good and bad times, school, work, unemployment, personal emergencies, online wars, changes of life, marriage, first few children, etc.? Or will one of those things cause the forum to be closed for "personal reasons"?
To all those who think CathInfo and ABLF are just a coin toss apart -- think harder next time. Even Ignis Ardens didn't last more than what, 5 or 6 years? Maybe this is a lesson for all those patronizing "free forums" without domain names. If you can't invest a few dollars in a domain name and web hosting, you're not serious about your forum. Period.
If there were any good posts on ABL 1.0 and 2.0, they're gone now. Bye-bye, flushed down the toilet forever. Whatever hours were spent composing them have been wasted.
