Are we required to say a daily Rosary?

"for the record no Catholic is required to own, carry or pray the rosary, to own, wear or perform the devotions associated with a scapular of brown or any other color, ditto for miraculous medal, statues or any other sacramental or private devotion. We are required to obey the commandments and precepts of the Church, to live in conformity with the beatitudes and perform the works of mercy, to assist at Mass and have frequent recourse to the sacraments, to pray daily and to read and meditate with scripture often if not daily.

Why would you have animosity towards  people that are following Church law ?

    No, not at all.

I just find statements like this sad

Are we required to say a daily Rosary?
"Nope. Otherwise, it would mean the likes of Jack Chic were right about us.

    Have a nice day."

"Look, praying the Rosary is nice but it will always be an extra that can be forgone without any risk to one's eternal salvation. Besides, I'm not even sure its wise to be eager about it since fundamentalists these days are so quick to charge us with Mary worship. "

Wouldn't a simple "no, the Church does not require us to pray the Rosary" suffice ?

That person is worried about how Protestants feel about Our Lady. I think that is sad.

  • Ok, now I get it.  Just proves that a person needs to stay away from that site in the first place.

You are right. It does present a near occasion of sin every time I go there.

  • I was banned from there, yet surprisingly I was able to view the forum. I guess the forum's memory on my computer ran out and let me view the forums. Anyway, those were indeed some terrible posts. That place is a joke.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

Wow, you'd fit right in over there. It is Church law NOT to pray the Rosary? Matthew has warned you time and time again about posting anti-Mary stuff. Unless you want to get banned you really need to listen to his warnings. While you're at it I also recommend doing some research, if you did you would see it is not Mary worship.

I just asked a question. What you have inadvertently implied is that Catholics that have a Christ centered scripture and tradiotion based faith are not welcome in the Catholic Church. That makes sense because Luke 18:8 implies that the true Christian faith will not be welcome in any "church".

As far as Catholic Answers goes, I asked them if I could distribute audio tapes of their material - they were more interested in making a buck and did not permit people to make copies and distribute their material for free.  THis was back in the 80's when they first got started. So if you get a bad vibe from their forum, I am not surprised. Originally I thought they could be an answer to Medugorje madness. After all these years I still get bent out of shape to see people actually prefer madness over sound doctrine. Must be the same kind of people that like fantasy football and Guitar Hero.

The question you asked is why we should be upset when the people there are, in your words, "following Church Law". So, Church Law says we should NEVER pray to Mary? You think you're in the Catholic Church but you are actually outside the Church for rejecting doctrine. While Catholicism is Christ based we are still called to honer and love Mary, but not worship her. In fact, if you were to ask 100 Catholics, they would all tell you they do NOT worship Mary. Does this make any sense to you? If not, you can always do research.

Agreed. I used to post there until I was mocked and insulted by sarcastic Catholics who called me schismatic for aligning with the SSPX. One person, with an air of superiority, said, "I would ask you not to post on this forum, full of FAITHFUL Catholics." -scoffs-

And they call us trads arrogant.

Shockingly, a liberal just got suspended tonight in a heated argument over the topic of Hell. I had to laugh. He was arguing with anyone who thought talk of Hell could ever be of value to souls, basically, and just before he was suspended, he stated anyone who argued with the like were fools. I don't think he was thinking clearly at that point....seemed to be grinding the enamel off his teeth.

But sadly, one who outright mocked the dogma itself, did not. And of course one who said talk of Hell was "propagandist nonsense" was left to unscathed.
