The Apostolic See refutes "Roman Catholicism"'s arguments that he has proven we are a "sham" as follows:

1. Anyone who desires can obtain directly from the Apostolic See a written abjuration, renunciation, and denunciation of all calvinist and lutheran, and other errors.  This is a fully canonical abjuration required according to the 1917 code of canon law.

2.  It is impossible for anyone, absent special divine revelation, to read the true intentions of the heart apart from observing the exterior signs.
Therefore, Divine and canon law state that a man must be judged by his outward acts and statements, and not by attempts to guess a man's true righteousness.  

3.  Outwardly, legally, and formally the Apostolic See denounces all errors at the present time.

4. God commands all men to submit to the Roman Pontiff, or they are schismatics.

5. God would not make a command that is impossible to obey because of uncertainty.

6. Therefore God would only make such a command to submit to the Roman Pontiff, if men could tell infallibly by the exterior acts and present outward disposition that the man who is in the Chair of Peter, and claims to be a Catholic, is in fact a true Catholic internally.

7. Pope Augustine, if he is truly Catholic, sits in the chair of Peter, this is proven by canon law and epikeia (the fulfillment of the will of God as required for society), and also prophecy.

8. Therefore, if Pope Augustine represents himself to be Catholic externall, and sits in the Chair of Peter, Pope Augustine is truly Catholic internally.

Stated another way:

1. God's law is that we submit to the proper and true Roman Pontiff on pain of eternal damnation.

2. God makes no law on pain of eternal damnation that is impossible to obey.

THEREFORE the command to submit to the Roman Pontiff is not impossible to obey.

1. Men can only judge heresy by external deeds.

2. God commands all men to submit to the Roman Pontiff on pain of eternal damnation.

3. God's law to submit to the Pope is not impossible to obey.

4. The possibility of men being heretics inwardly only, but also otherwise displaying all the proofs that they are Pope, would it impossible for men to know who is a true Pope, and impossible for men to obey the true Pope with certainty.

THEREFORE, it is impossible that men could be hidden heretics and yet display all the outward signs of being true Pope.

Pope Augustine displays all the outward proofs of being true Pope.

Pope Augustine exteriorly is a true Catholic (with written abjuration abjuring all errors).

THEREFORE Pope Augustine is the true Pontiff.



5. Men cannot read minds or heart, but can only judge based on external actions.  I.e. men cannot tell if any man, such as the Pope is an occult heretic.

5. THEREFORE, no Pope would fall into heresy without exhibiting that heresy externally.

6. Pope Augustine, if he is a Catholic, is the Pope as proven from his arguments of canon law, and principles of legal equity.

7. Pope Augustine externally claims, at the present time and according to the law of abjuration, to be a Roman Catholic.

8. Pope Augustine also proves that if he is Catholic, he is the Pope.

9. THEREFORE Pope Augustine is a true Catholic and not a heretic, for he claims to be Pope, can prove if he is Catholic he is Pope according to canon law, and no Pope could be an occult heretic.
