Her response was "in kind" to OP? Delusional!

Summa, Supplement, Q. 62, Article 2, Reply to Objection 1:

The wife can be corrected for her sin of fornication not only by this punishment [putting her away] but also by words and blows; wherefore if she be ready to be corrected otherwise, her husband is not bound to have recourse to the aforesaid punishment in order to correct her.

Certainly not prudent nowadays..the husband could lose his wife, children, house, and end up in jail. I could see it actually being sinful in the regard. Jeopardizing your children's spiritual wellbeing, considering the harlot wife could get full custody

I'm not participating in mixed sporting events or watching women in sport. What are you looking at when watching a sport? Only the ball? I don't think so!
"Can be corrected for the sin of fornication" does not mean that he can discipline with force for any disobedience.

I do know men who can play volleyball and not have the issues you seem to imply.  It is a good to know that for yourself,  but you can't speak for all men.  Just like I can't speak for all women.  There will always be differences of opinions on these issues.  Modest dress should be practiced in all things (just in case someone implies I am saying differently)

Yes, that's correct.

The issue that I "seem to imply" is men staring at women's bodies, specifically in various states of physical exertion. You know men that do not look at the body of the opponent they are playing an athletic sport against? A sport that requires observation of the opponents movements? How exactly do you know this?

More to the story? Am I obligated to reveal every detail of our relationship?

Men protecting the weak and innocent is not the same as assuaging irrational fears that women imagine. Should I never speak to her again? Should I not marry her even if the young woman her parents are totally on board with it? Just so Mrs. Z's concerns are eliminated? Because that is the only way she will get off my case. And then if I were to do that, she would call me "unmanly". You might too. But at least you were willing to hear me out and apologize.

Men lose no matter what we do. Modern women want to neuter men and then complain when we aren't manly.
Her story.   Not yours, stop thinking everything is against you.

Pope Pius XI on women's athletics and competitive sports

Bp. Williamson with a similar exhortationI agree with WorldsAway, that it would probably be ok. Casual games like croquet, bowls, etc. which do not involve overt displays of athleticism, e.g. jumping and hard hits. Only very recently I was indifferent to it, but after reading the above quotes I am against them. Competitive and athletic sports like volleyball which involve overt athletic displays or heated competition are not conducive to feminine reserve and modesty. Also WorldsAway comment about custody of the eyes and whatnot, physically developed women should not be jumping around whilst they are the focus of men. A man should keep custody of his eyes, and women should avoid putting temptation before a man with her physical movements, even if she is dressed to Catholic standards.
We are talking past each other.

I guess none of you have been to a get together where an innocent game of volleyball was being played.

The quotes above are for professional sports or leagues.  I am not talking about that.  And if that is what the OP was talking about then maybe more information should be included.

AP should have done a better job of starting his post.  Like maybe a commentary on why he posted in the first place.

Unfortunately people tell me lots of things male and female.  I have a warm non judgmental presence in most cases (I know people don't think that here)  I went to college I was the girl that guys talked to but didn't do try anything else with because I was probably the marrying type not the other type of girl and this was way before I became a traditional Catholic  so yes I know a lot.  Yes some men can play sports for fun without lusting after a girl.

I think the real question may be is there really a difference between admiring something beautiful like a painting and perverting it into something impure?

A person can look at a painting of a flower and say that is beautiful,  but someone can also imagine that flower into something perverse.  Which is correct?  Is it just a flower or is it perverse?
