PS: Did not someone recently post on CI that, when in 2018 Rome gave permission to the Ecclesia Dei groups to use the traditional missal, Menzingen circulated instructions throughout the SSPX not to request it?

if that is true, does it make sense in light of the above?

I know that the SSPX in Scotland and in Gateshead (England) is using the pre-55 Holy Week, for at least some services.

I think that the Resistance in the U.S. will likely go sedevacantist at some point in the future, or there will be a split or break away sedevacantist group. IMO, this is because Americans value 'liberty' above all else. It's not just the liberals who want liberty. Often, we Americans don't even realize that liberty is what matters the most to us. Trads in the U.S. are not immune to this, since 'liberty' is ingrained in us from an early age.
That's exactly what Bishop Williamson says in his latest interview I just posted!
I hope you are wrong about a SV split, but it is pretty much the history of Tradition.
There was a massive departure from Resistance to SV in the early years. Bishop Fellay was the best ever recruiting officer for the Sedes.

I watched the first 12 minutes of the new +W video, but haven't seen that addressed yet. Thanks for posting it. I'll watch the rest of it later. Interesting that he has the same thoughts about the Resistance.

I sort of hope I'm wrong about the American Resistance going SV eventually, but it's inevitable. So why fight it. Americans are gonna do what they wanna do. Always have. I don't really care anymore. Though I really get a lot out of +W's talks. And Fr. Chazal, but he's veering ever closer to SV. It takes great strength to avoid the pitfalls of SV.

This is a Resistance forum, but most of the active forum members are SV. That says a lot. Yes, Bp. Fellay is a good recruiting officer for SV, and the SV's know that there's no hope that the SSPX will ever convert to SV, so they turn to the Resistance.

Williamson does not have the same thoughts about the resistance, but about liberty.  I don’t think he mentions the Resistance in the entire interview

Okay. I did see that part of the video. It relates to SV, I suppose. But unless he mentions SV specifically, he might not be referring to that at all. In any case, Americans love their liberty, and they can apply it to all sorts of situations, and strongly back up their views with what seems to be justifiable proofs. Oh well. That's how it goes.

My family has been here since the pilgrims at Plymouth Rock, and I've probably studied that history more than most here, so I understand what he means when he talks about the puritans. He's absolutely right.
