  • So recently, I've heard some people and read some statements essentially claiming JPII was pro communism. While I don't believe he was a valid pope, this claim is hard to believe as he and Reagan are pretty much credited with ending the USSR. If anyone has any sources or information regarding statements he made or actions he took that supported communism, I'd like to better understand this position.

  • Others will chime but he had a mobility only the privileged in the Eastern bloc got. He had a connection to Pax Christi, a sort of Communist front organisation. Francis had the cheek to beatify the Polish Cardinal Wyszynski who actually resisted Communism in a genuine way. JP2 helped a along the transition the Eastern bloc ruling class wanted of moving from crony Marxist-Leninism to a crony republican, parliamentary system.
