This is a short article I wrote on the topic Brownson. In my estimation Brownson is the profoundest writer, by far, I have found. Pius IX sent him a personal letter declaring him Defender of the Faith. In addition to writing profusely, Brownson was an immense lecturer. He once spoke at Fordham and there were 2,000 people in attendance. Brownson spoke for so long that by lecture's end there were only a few people left.
