    Watch out. he isn't just talking on the phone;

    Pope Francis has accepted an old Renault, a gift from an Italian priest, and indicated that he will use it to drive himself around the Vatican.

    Father Renzo Zocca, a priest from Verona, offered to give the Pope his own used car, a 1984 Renault that has logged over 185,000 miles. To his surprise the Pontiff accepted the gift, and the priest delivered the car, giving the Pope a test drive inside the Vatican walls.

    "I think the pope will drive it a bit himself inside the Vatican," said Father Ciro Benedettini, the deputy director of the Vatican press office. The old car—the latest manifestation of the Pope’s desire for simplicity—is viewed with alarm by Vatican security officials.

    He could be driving to a parish near you.

    It would be interesting if Mr. Bergoglio when he would meet in a future date with +Fellay to give him a blessing, instead of him giving it to him... You know after all atheist can certainly give very kosher prayers  :idea: .

    Not in that piece of cheap French tin.  With 185,000 miles on it, it would be lucky to make it over the Alps.

  • Media reports about a few unexpected phone calls placed by Pope Francis to ordinary Catholics have captured the world’s attention. But a Vatican official reports that the Pontiff actually makes such calls quite often.

    Msgr. Dario Vigano, the director of the Vatican Television Center, told the Italian journal Famiglia Cristiana that he had spoken with the Pontiff about the calls that had drawn media attention. “Good thing they don’t know about all the ones I have made!” the Pope responded.

    The Pope makes personal calls routinely, Msgr. Vigano reports—mentioning that the Holy Father called him to wish him a happy birthday. Pope Francis says that he has always reached out to people by phone, and does not plan to change his practice.
