Pope Francis has said that if you no do feel that you are in need of God’s mercy then it is better not to go to Mass.

Speaking at his general audience today, Pope Francis said: “Sometimes someone asks: ‘Why bother going to church, the people who always go to Mass are sinners like the others’. If you do not feel in need of God’s mercy, if you do not feel you are a sinner, then it’s better not go to Mass, because we go to Mass because we are sinners and we want to receive the forgiveness of Jesus, to participate in His redemption, His forgiveness.

“That ‘I confess’ we say at the beginning is not a ‘pro forma’, is a true act of penance, ‘I am a sinner and I confess’. We have to go to Mass humbly, as sinners, and the Lord reconciles us.”

Pope Francis went on to say: “We celebrate the Eucharist not because we are worthy, but because we recognise our need for God’s mercy, incarnate in Jesus Christ… I wish to reflect on how we live the Eucharist in our daily lives.”

The Pope said that “the Eucharist affects the way we see others. So too the Eucharist brings us together with others – young and old, poor and affluent, neighbours and visitors. The Eucharist calls us to see all of them as our brothers and sisters.”

Pope Francis said that with the renewed idea from God’s gift presented in the service “our hearts are enlarged to receive and show mercy.”

Modernists think faith is a feeling. Read Pascendi, esp. §7, which says that, according to the Modernists,
    Quote
faith, which is the basis and the foundation of all religion, consists in a sentiment which originates from a need of the divine.

  • He sums up the typical lazy sinful vain catholic in name only novus ordite who could not care less about church teaching or sacraments or the consequences of sin. 99.9% of the novus ordo church dont believe in what the church stands for. They actually contradict the church by their lifestyles more than the formally non Catholic protestants do. Do they even believe in God at all? And what stupid idea to they have in their head that tells them they can think like this if there is a God and expect him to approve of it?

  • I stopped going to mass a couple weeks ago and don't know when or if I will go back.

I can no longer with a clear conscience give money knowing it is going to feed pope francis heretic nor can I remain in a small community without contributing to the costs.

So there you are, I am stuck.

Things would be so much easier if I just won the lottery, like 40 million dollars (hint hint).

And are you sure there is not a True Mass available near where you live?

He says nothing new.  In 1977, my father was given "advice" by the parish priest that children old enough to stay home alone should not be forced to go to Mass if they didn't "feel" like it.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

This is the kind of crap the local N.O. priest says.

They have this idea of a hippie Jesus who's cool with everything you want to do.
Yes, it is annoying as all get-out to have a bunch of huffing and puffing and eye rolling from people, oddly enough not the teenagers, they should still assist at mass. You never know when God will deliver His graces, so why go out of your way to deprive yourself of being in the presence of Christ?

But I guess this newfangled Catholicism is just about going to mass whenever you want to and singing "Jesus is just alright with me" for the recessional. :guitar:
    Matthew 6:34
" Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof."
