That's the short version. Yes, we just hit "5000 members" but that doesn't count banned users -- every other forum software DOES count disabled/banned accounts.
So IF you want to make APPLES TO APPLES comparisons between forums -- you need to know that.
Also, most importantly, I deleted hundreds of old unused accounts many years ago, when I had the OLD SOFTWARE and the old SHARED HOSTING, in an attempt to make the forum as fast and streamlined as possible. I was trying to optimize the database. Shared hosting is very strict on how much CPU power, memory, etc. you can use, since your website shares a server with hundreds of other websites. I was trying to stay on shared hosting ($10/month) as long as possible.
I don't know of any other forum -- Catholic or otherwise -- that has pruned its database in that way. So again, IF you wanted to compare CathInfo to some other forum, you'd need to factor that in.
Our apparent "Member #5000" is actually Member #7946, if you click on it.
