Wireless is often rubbish compared to wired.

  • I have a wired Lenovo Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse.  They are 100% reliable.

The Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse on my wife's iMac is nice looking but suddenly gives up and needs to be charged.

Wireless Cordless Drills are convenient for jobs.  Wired electric drills are the only way to have enough power to hammer drill into concrete.

Headphones are better than wireless headphones unless the wire is going to get in your way or get caught.

An ethernet cable to your router gives a MUCH more reliable connection.  Same thing for printers.

Anyone else like me who thinks wired is often superior and wired not so necessary?

  • That has been my experience as well.  It depends a bit on the proximity between the connected devices but I’ve done comparative testing of wireless vs. wired bandwidth and there’s a big difference ... with lots of dropped packets over wireless.

  • I also prefer wired to wireless, whenever possible. The signal is going to be better.

I even buried ethernet cords in a pipe between our 2 main buildings (House and school/office "annex" trailer) because I wanted a solid Ethernet connection for work. It didn't cost that much, and we already needed a trench to install electricity. But still, the small cost was well worth it.

Wireless is fine for my phone -- for small consuming operations (check the weather, check the news, check email, etc.) but for serious work, you can't beat a wired connection.

  • I feel the same way and prefer wired.   (I know most of you are computer geniuses compared to me. )

May God bless you and keep you

  • Wire. Absolutely wire.
