If I'm not mistaken, maybe Bernoulli's principle applies here: a decrease in pressure as a fluid moves faster than it's surroundings. Electricity is often simulated with water.

I fail to see the analogy. Ampère's force law says two currents in the same direct will attract. Bernoulli's principle doesn't say two flows of water in the same direction attract, but that the faster the flow, the lower the pressure.
